Catch your shadow..

When / If ever I do grow up. I am totally doing this for the lucky little children that would have to put up with me!

have this now? yes?

Its so imaginative. I just love it!!! And little Johns teddy bear... Perfect!

Low blow

This is sad... I never realised it before.

Who died and made you king... that is funny and yet so wrong

Can't help but giggle though. Its wrong... but it is pretty funny.

{image from iwastesomuchtime.com}

Try not to sing it

I'll cut straight to it....

Lion King. HA HA

You sang it didn't you. I can't read it without doing it. When Lion King 3D was in the cinema the sound was missing for the trailers.  In a panic I said "we're gonna miss the",  and out loud, I sang whats on this shirt! and shortly after kicked up a fuss at the desk to get the sound on.

You cant be missing that now....

Do you go to the cinema to see Disney movies re-done in 3D?

I want to be in you

I drink a lot of water. Like ... a lot! I always have a bottle with me. If I don't have a bottle/glass of water nearby I fear I may evaporate or shrivel up like a raisin  I dont like raisons. Or turn to dust like a vampire hit by light (pre shiny vampires - i'm talking old school vampires) and although I do the idea of vampires, my demise vampire stylee does not sound pleasant.

So continue to drink water I will. Its good to know it likes me as much as I like it!!

LOL this just made me giggle...a lot

In conclusion. Drink more water... it wants to be your friend!!!

{anyone any idea where this image lives?}

Hey - Ye olde lady

I have heard many different versions of this song,  including this Ben Howard version and this Geordie version.

I have now found my favourite.. in written form!

Call me maybe...

If he got his teeth fixed I would.....

So true

The so true moment of the week.

I have stood frozen staring at it afraid that it would move although not prepared to do anything if it did. My sister was stranded in her house, watching a one, that she couldn't leave alone just in case, while I sent over someone to rescue her.

Truth!

Remember Remember...

Its Remember Remember day!

and as it is one of my favourite movies.. here's my favourite V soliloquy :

Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valourous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition! The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it's my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V.
I never knew there were that many V words. Happy 5th !

Disney Strikes Back

So it was announced recently that Disney has bought Lucas Film for a ridiculous amount of money (see article here).

And in her true genius, Ms Mebberson has immortalized the news with a super smart edition of Pocket Princesses.

Raptors all up in the kitchen

So recently I was in hospital after a minor operation and my sister shared this with me.

I laughed and laughed.. for about half an hour. And whenever I remembered it again.. I laughed again. I don't think it was just the medication they had me on.

I still find it hilarious.

"Raptors all up in the kitchen Phil!"

He had one job.....Ha... Awesome!!!

For winter (or summer in Ireland).

Came across these online. Great idea for keeping your feet warm and looking stylish. I am very fond of converse and these make them even better.

Warm your feet with chargeable shoestrings

"Warm Shoestring is a project where shoelaces are made from a specialized fire-resistant material and that plug into an adapter. The adapter regulates the temperature and the string warms up the shoes. Ideal for countries that suffer bitter cold winter and where shoes take longer to dry up."

Especially for the summer we've been having!!!

Too many similarities.....

It would appear that I have a lot in common with toddlers... This, strangely enough, isnt that much of a shock. I got Elmo for christmas last year, have a great appreciation for the Muppets, have a limited diet and pretty much have a fear of most things.

Better Spiderman

So its been out in the cinema a few weeks now but recently I went to see the Spiderman reboot - The Amazing Spiderman.

I want expecting much and to be honest I couldnt stand Tobey Maguire in the other 3 so I was hoping for the best.

In short its a very very entertaining movie. Lots of action, bit of comedy, no lull in the film at all, and there is the eye candy.
On a slightly related note - here's three reasons why the reboot is better than the last batch:

1.

2.

Disney Dreams

So this exists: Disney Princess inspired wedding dresses!!!

No I'm no where near to getting married. But anyone who knows me knows it will have a Disney element. I once thought of getting married in Disney land but they only do it in Florida.
A Disney dress may be more plausible.

Here's my favourite:

This is the Belle inspired dress. Also happens to be my favourite princess!

This one is also amazing:

Its Snow White's.

Check out the full collection here.

Definitely a Shiny Something!

Heading North

So myself and himself just returned from an overnight stay in Belfast. We arrived yesterday at about 3.30 and checked into our hotel.

We were staying in the Hilton (5 star hotel - oh yes!). Turns out all touristy things i.e. sites attractions and tours close at 4pm. So we got to do nothing. We originally booked the trip to visit the new Titanic exhibit that has opened in Belfast but after booking the non refundable hotel, i discovered the exhibit was booked up until Monday. Well done me for planning in advance. I never realised it was the 100 year anniversary of the Titanic this weekend. Ah well.  I did find a Disney store which of course brightened my day and adopted Sulley who will be accompanying me on my adventures.

We had dinner in the hotel and availed of the 2 free cocktails that came with the room deal.

Today (15th) we went to the rope bridge and the Giants Causeway. Oh lordy was the rope bridge scary. It was wobbly and shaky and high up. I'll post a picture :-)

**update here's a pic**

The giants causeway was quite beautiful. We got the perfect day weather wise for it. Both attractions involved a lot of waling up hill and steps to get to which i wasn't aware of. It was well worth the walking and it helped burn of the dessert i shouldn't have had in  the hotel!!

After all the complicated walking up hill and over rocks and down small steep narrow steps... I twisted my ankle when we got back to the flat part on the way to the car park. Typical! So now I'm a hop along which is always fun!!

Anywho back to reality and work tomorrow, will post pictures as soon as they come through on my email.

Toodles....

Ranty Rant Rant

OK.. I apologise in advance for whats coming..
<RANT>
Just watched the news (bad idea i know) and apart from all the usual we are all screwed, we have no money, we were living beyond our means rubbish.. they are talking about jobs. And how there aren't any.. what an optimistic happy time we live in(!)

Anyway.. to my point.. The started talking about the CAO and how there is a rise of students selecting IT and computer science roles as there is a shortage of skilled workers in this area and lots of unfilled jobs...

I am so sick of hearing about all the unfilled jobs that's available in IT. There are many jobs going for IT.. but only to those who already have experience.. there are very, very VERY few going for graduates. I completed an Honours degree in Computer Applications (Software Engineering) and got a second class honours in it. Can I get a job..?? NOPE!

All jobs spec say 3-5 years experience. (I have 6 months experience that was gained during my college time.)  I found one job that didn't ask for experience and they emailed me back (which was a first for the dozens of applications i had made) asking what grade I attained in my degree. I got a 2.2 which isn't good enough.

I was just a few percent off a 2.1 but that doesn't matter now its just the grade that counts.

I really wish they would delve into this issue more and stop just saying that there's lots of jobs in IT. I was even willing to work for free to gain experience but that's not an option either. I also have a teaching certificate which enables me to teach IT but still I have to work outside the area I spent 5 years training for..

GRRR. Rant over!

Im baack !!

Im back...Mainly to talk about Lent and the wonderful book that managed a miracle: Run Fat B!tch Run.

I heard about this book through Twitter. @Giovannafalcone was reading it on a bus and after reading the summary about it, bought it straight away. This book is the ultimate motivator. I have wanted to start running for a while. I am incredibly unfit and himself used to run and it’s always something I wanted to do. I read the first half of the book in a day and the next day started to follow its plan. I dragged my wee sis with me (21years old.. not so wee). She didn’t want to go at first as it was dark and raining but I read her a paragraph from the book and she had her runners on in no time.

The idea is you map out a circuit about 5km long in a loop. This is your circuit and it will help gauge your progress. In 2 weeks I was able to run half of the circuit, a good chunk of it to without having to stop and walk.

So this was a few weeks ago and my cousin got married since and I got distracted and gave up. (This is where Lent comes in.) Instead of giving up chocolate which I usually do, I have decided to get fit and take up running. I have the goal of a 5km fun run in May. Today is the Ash Wednesday and after eating a bunch of pancakes yesterday I definitely need to work them off.

Goal:      3-4 times a week
Distance: 3-5km per run

Hope I can summon my inner @GritDoctor to give me the power!

That’s all for now... I’ll let ya know how I get on.

Toodles…

UPDATE: Did a short run of almost 3k. Mostly up hill and ran half of it without stopping. Good start :-)
